Overall, I believe that I place more value on the Secondary Dimension than the Primary Dimension when it comes to communicating with others. For example, I wouldn't choose to only communicate with females or heterosexuals, I would look at person's personality and communication style to weigh the costs and benefits of maintaining or forming a relationship. It is true that I tend to socialize more with males than females, but that's not because I have a preference- it is because I like their thinking and communication styles. I do not typically place a huge value on primary dimensions, because individuals do not have control over these characteristics; however, people do have control over their social behavior and communication styles. For example, If I know person has a great communication style, but is a smoker- then I would reconsider forming a friendship, because I had bad experience with smokers in my family.

I think that my unique identity as a Slav individual enables to relate to other ethnic groups in US such as Hispanics and Muslims. Slavic culture is very tolerant towards other ethnicities that share the same core social values. Ever since childhood I experienced different Asian cultures mix with Russian culture which encouraged my love for diversity. My mom had friends that were Armenian and of Asian descent. Also, my best childhood friend was Asian of Tatar descent. All of these interactions encouraged the growth of my tolerance and love for different cultures. When I immigrated to US, I was surprised to see so much stereotyping of Asian people that were actually cherished back in my mother country. My parents also taught me not to just tolerate differing ethnic groups, but also love and respect the unique traditions each group possesses.

If my Secondary Dimension changed, then I believe I would be a completely different person than I am today. I value Education, Family, Communication Style, Thinking Style the most when it comes to interacting with others. Let's say I choose Economic Status to be valued more instead of Education. It would completely change the way I communicate with my friends, because I would focus more on monetary value of things rather than educational value. I believe that I would be more gold driven rather than discovery and learning driven person as I am today! Most of my conversations with friends would probably focus on financial aspects of life rather than educational value of life.

I believe than nowadays corporations and organizations have no choice but to be diverse. USA was socially constructed on diversity and social inclusion, so if a corporation refuses to promote diversity it will lose its ratings as well as its customers. It is beneficial for large organizations and businesses to have diversity, because it is economically beneficial to target different ethnic groups to increase sales and productivity of the business. For example, corporations encourage the employment of Hispanics, because this ethnic groups are known to be very dedicated and hardworking compared with Europeans, who are known to be uncooperative and passively assertive workers.
